February 8 is now the “Safer Internet Day”, an event created by 28 European countries and others around the world. Its objective is to promote education of children about the threats present on the Net. The project will ensure that children and teenagers understand the threats posed by anonymous chatting, spam, spyware and adware, etc.
I guess it is certainly a good idea, but I would like to see how it will be implemented. I hope all the actors involved will move in the same direction, and quite fast, not one of those projects you hear with a release date of 2010. For the moment, the Belgian website is a mess.
It is funny I notice this event just one day after I see the subservient chicken on the Net…
