Search engine optimization (SEO) may soon undergo a new face-lift. I read around that Google is about to optimize the way their results show up by ranking frequently updated sites higher.
Does this make sense? I don’t think so, as some pages may be of great relevance notwithstanding the fact that they would not need frequent updating. Looking for an example, the first one to pop to mind would be encyclopedic articles such as wikipedia‘s. Do unfrequently updated pages mean they’re less interesting?
I would go further by saying that even though this would give more power to blogs, it does not mean that the Net should be viewed as the ultimate rat race… Not all content is suited to frequent updating.
What do you think about this issue?
