We are officially closing Streetglams, our project of #streetglam photography & fashion from Belgium.
For the past four years, Streetglams bridged real fashion as seen through street styling with what’s coming next through young designers. The initial objective was to approach glamorous women on the go and offer them a spontaneous street style portrait, to celebrate their style and confidence. However, the project quickly grew to include elaborate fashion photography as well as fashion news from the Brussels area.
Indeed, little did we know that we would meet such interesting characters through street styling! Unknowingly, our own fashion sense drew us to artists and designers foremost, and this allowed us to create the initial connections that helped shape the project.
In retrospect, this was both a boon and our downfall. You see, Streetglams started as an experiment, because we believe in a lab mentality, exploring ideas and testing our hypotheses in short spikes. The thing is, with Streetglams we got carried away. What started as an experiment quickly turned into a full blown project with a tight blogging schedule to maintain. We even hired an additional person to help out, but even so, it was too much, and the scheduling suffered. Instead of keeping an outdated blog alive, we have agreed it is time to pull the plug.
It was certainly an interesting adventure, and we had lots of fun shooting and promoting upcoming fashion. But while the project gathered some interest in the Brussels area, the return on investment — mostly in time, but also in money — does not justify dragging the project further. We agreed to run the project for three years, and we let it live a little longer. Now, we must remain true to our Lean values and let it go. With happiness, and no regrets.
Thank you to all our fans and followers, and of course to all artists, designers, models, and event managers we met. An archive of posts with the streetglams tag will be merged on our agency’s blog, while the Streetglams domain and website itself will be shut down at the end of the month.
So long, Streetglams! Be glam, stay fab!
