I specialize in corporate portraiture. I believe that professional, clean, and approachable portraits can make a difference in how people and business are perceived online.
I also shoot fashion for our Streetglams project. Streetglams is a platform that bridges real fashion from street styling with what’s coming next through designers and brands. We’re all about fashion, photography and glamorous women! Part of my job is giving my feedback on briefs to Hector, looking for guidelines for upcoming photo sessions. I prepare the gear and make sure that the studio is ready for the photo shoots. I am in charge during the shoot, as I’m responsible for the achieving the desired results. Then follows post processing and the delivery of the final images.
I love my work, being able to get inspired and touched by so many different sources, by life, people I have the pleasure to meet and photographer, by strangers, by so many forms of art, and translate it to photography is a treasure.
How did you get into photography?
I have an ever lasting love for the arts and crafts: photography, of course, but also sewing, or smithing. Once, I produced a full plate armor from scratch! I am also intrigued by human behaviour and interests, which led me to study psychology. Photography is my way to connect both passions: capturing the beauty of my subjects through my creative expression while making sure that the essence of their souls is captured.
What is your favorite part of the creative process?
I love every part for the collaborative energy. But if I think specifically of my contribution, then shooting on set and post processing are clear winners.
Where does your inspiration come from?
While people are my biggest source of inspiration, I also find it in the smallest things: a butterfly going about her day, the sun reflecting on stones? The list is endless. There is always a reason to be enchanted. I admire creative people such as Annie Leibovitz, Tim Walker, Sue Brice, Lara Jade, and Christina Greve… to name a few. Art and books that touch my soul. My day would not be complete without a lovely tune. Movies and series when I have time. Magazines, Pinterest, Google+, Facebook are great sources as well.
Anything else you want to talk about?
I run my own project at graphility, Marta Hurtado Photography. I focus on capturing everyday women through a hint of glamour. My mission is to remind all women of their true beauty. You would be amazed how many of us don’t know how beautiful we really are. I believe it’s important for women of any age to know that people look at them with admiration. They are gorgeous, and I want my images to remind them of that. That’s my dream!
